When RCF Group (a Haworth dealer) approached Rework about a large-scale decommissioning project for Anthem, a health insurance company, we knew we were the right fit for the job. With stringent landfill diversion goals focusing on reuse, recycling and donation, our client’s dedication to sustainability is similar to our own. Challenging yet attainable, these goals were realistic given Rework has the experience and team to get the job done.
With a specialty in corporate facility decommissioning of assets, Rework’s team has 30 years of experience diverting countless pounds of landfill waste from Involving two urban buildings and 90 trailer loads of furniture, this job was highly complex due to the size and scope of the project. Our skilled sales team—along with our installers and project managers—were perfectly suited for a project of this nature due to our keen ability to think outside the box. Involved at the onset, we began by mapping out a timeline and creating a project plan to ensure every detail of the project was accounted for. Anthem’s stringent landfill diversion goals - including an 85% diversion rate - meant our plan was highly complex. From a high level standpoint, in addition to our client’s goals, our mission was to deliver this project on time and within budget.
After the detailed project plan was complete, we began the first phase, which involved breaking down each piece of equipment spanning 8 floors, 2 buildings, and over 230K sf. job sites nationwide. From re-purposing office furniture to recycling materials, we prevented over 3.2 M lbs of furniture from entering landfills in 2020. Our dedicated Decommission Team consists of a Director, a LEED certified Program Manager and a Project Manager. trailer loads of furniture decomissioned
